FOTD/Ulzzang & Shiseido Luminizing Color Powder

I was taking pictures of my FOTD and thought, hey why not convert it into an ulzzang picture! The results? Kind of disappointing…

Normal FOTD

And now for the ulzzang ones…

This one is without flash…and without photoshop manipulation.

omg! Where did my nose go??! If you ever want to look like a pale ghost without a nose, super high contrast and brightness do the trick. I DON’T KNOW HOW TO PHOTOSHOP CIRCLE LENSES!!! Someone teach me??

Someone requested a review of the Shiseido Luminizing Color Powder, so I will try my best to give a good and honest review.

First of all, the powder case and the actual powder refill is purchased separately. The case itself is $10.50 and includes a half moon brush that’s very soft and fluffy which is housed in the top compartment. The powder refill is $21.50 and comes in 4 shades; the one I got is L3 Golden Beige.

You flip the top compartment over to review the powder:

I put it on crooked :/

It’s made of 3 different colored powders, the two on the bottom are matte while the yellow shade on the top has extremely fine and subtle shimmers, I think that’s supposedly the “luminizing” aspect of the powder. The powder is finely milled and packed down tight so that a swipe of the brush would not create little powder flakes. The color is sheer enough so that it will match pretty much anyone with a light to medium skintone with beige and/or yellow undertones.

Why I love it?

Because of three things:
1) The wonderful brush it comes with! I have been looking for a good powder compact that I can take with me for touch ups during the day, and something essential that I was looking for is that the compact has to have a separate compartment for the brush/sponge because I do not want to carry with me travel-sized powder blush, I want everything neatly inside one compact case. This is one of the few compact powders I’ve seen that actually includes a real brush instead of a sponge or puff, which makes the powder application so much better since the sponge or puff can be too heavy or cakey. The brush will also last much longer than the sponge if I wash it regularly, which makes it also more sanitary.

2) The case is refillable. This will actually save me money in the long run since the case is only a one-time purchase. I might want to try the Translucent shade in the future, and that will cost me only $21.50 for the refill instead of $30 something to buy an entire compact again. Before this, I considered getting the Lancome Dual Finish powder compact, the one that my mom has. But that one has a very strong scent and it’s $35.50, comes with a cheapie sponge puff, and is not refillable. A good powder compact will usually run you around $30, and some of them don’t even come with the very basic sponge puffs. So this one seemed to be a very good deal.

3) The awesome “luminizing” effect. I hate hate hate the look of matte skin. I have normal/combo skin so I tend to get a little oily around the T-zone throughout the day so I carry blotting papers with me to remove shine. However, after my face becomes non-shiny after blotting, if I proceed to apply a mattifying powder then my skin will look absolutely dull and lustre-less, so I always prefer glowy skin to matte skin. Which is why I chose this powder. The result after application is the most subtle glow: my skin looks more refined, smooth, and even; and the yellow shade really brightens up my complexion, I can even pat some underneath my eyes to brighten my dark circles. The coverage is on the sheer side, especially since it is being applied with a fluffy brush, I wasn’t looking for heavy coverage to begin with. I have been using it for a week now and my skin has not had any problems with it, although my skin is not very fussy and pretty much never reacts to anything, so I can’t really vouch for those with sensitive skin because it does contain a small amount of fragrance.

Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with this, it’s become my new favorite powder :)

Christiana: Thanks! I will try to do more FOTD, I’m usually too lazy :P

Emilee: My lashes are the result of hundreds of swipes of mascara on top of primer lol it was so hard to scrub off at the end of the day!

arashi: The Cargo blush is really lovely, I had actually bought the Cargo Anniversary Set a while back that came with the Coral Beach blush that was kind of orange-y. I didn’t like it but my friend loved it so she bought the Miami Beach blush and traded it with me. It’s gorgeouss. You should try it ;)

im wondering, do you use the 3 colors separately or together? would the darker shade be for contouring? sorry if they’re stupid questions =P

uh. . i think in photoshop, you go to filter and click liquify. Then in liquify , on the tool side use bloat tool. . position the tool on ur eyes and click once or more. . depends on on how big you want your eyes it to be.
