Emu Oil

I have heard a lot of great things about emu oil. Apparently it is made from the refined fats of the Australian emu (they look very similar to ostriches) and is an excellent moisturizer tons of nutrients and is able to penetrate deeply into the skin to repair scars, soothe burns, and even treat arthritis! I had first heard about this miracle product from a beauty blog called Shades of U (she also listed all the uses of emu oil and gave a first hand review!) a while back and had wanted to try it, but was too lazy to place an order for it so it was just pushed to the back of my mind. The other day it came up again when I was browsing the Lure Beauty website, and so I decided to place an order for a sample size to try it out. Of course being me I had to throw in a couple of other things in my basket too including a couple of blushes since they seem to give out extremely generous samples: 1/2 tsp in 20 gram sifter jar for only $2.50. I also ordered some foundation samples since my EDM sample ones are running low (they lasted me for almost 4 months!). As much as I love EDM’s products, I just can’t seem to find a good match in their foundations without having to mix a whole bunch of them together, and I end up with a shade that comes pretty close to my skintone but is still not perfect. The best foundation match I have found is Clinique Superfit Makeup in Neutral, but the coverage and the staying power sucks so I stopped using it, and of course I discovered mineral makeup and the rest is history. I am hoping I will be able to find a match with Lure Beauty’s foundations. I will update when my order arrives!

I’ve decided to start the year right and get into a regular exercise routine. I hate going to the gym and even more I HATE being sweaty! My face also gets incredibly hot and red when I exercise, very similar to when I drink alcohol, I get like the Asian glow on turbo mode. But I figured since that’s not preventing me from drinking so it shouldn’t be an excuse for me to not exercise right? So in order to motivate myself to exercise, I bought some pretty running shoes by Asics and made my BF get matching ones so we will go jogging together! He is so much more fit than I am that I’m pretty ashamed actually…but now is the time to catch up (well sort of). My goal is to build up some muscle in my flabby arms and legs.

Arashi: Actually he’s the one that encouraged me to jog, he’s really into exercising and I am not…haha

Anna: From what I have read, emu oil is non-comedogenic so it will not block your pores and make you break out, unless you are allergic to it I guess…but since one of the many uses is to treat rashes and burns I doubt that it’s an allergen but you never know. I will definitely keep you updated on how it works!

i hate working out. my bf pays for my gym membership and nags me cause i never go. LOL! he TRIES to make me go with him but i have this great ability of procrastinating long enough so that he doesn’t want to go anymore. LOL! i tried emu oil when i first got into natural skin care but didn’t care too much for the consistency. it’s a heavy oil and it takes longer to sink in versus say camellia oil or kukui nut oil. :P good luck with that though! can’t wait to see how it works out for you, cause i’ve heard so many other people rave that it does wonders for them. :]

wow emu oil sounds good! might try it after my jojoba is finished.
I’m wondering, what shades did you use from EM, and what did you think of it?
Did you try any blushes? I’m thinking of trying the sample kit but its so hard to pick colours!

    <3 really enjoy your blog!

Christiana: Lol my bf is the same way, I hate going to the gym so I just make up excuses like “I have no shoes!” or “I have a headache”. But I’ll see how well I stick to my promise now that I have some new shoes…

lilsweetkaz: I just got my emu oil order so I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet…but I will definitely keep you updated on how well it works for me. So for EM I actually ordered 2 sample kits and still haven’t really found a shade that suits me. I’ve actually tried pretty much ALL of the shades that are in the light to medium under Warm, Golden, and Neutral categories. I usually just mix them all together and try to get a shade that close lol so I end up not knowing which ones are actually good matches. As for blushes, I have only tried their All Smiles and B&B blushes, and those are SUPER pigmented and matte so I have to use a very light hand. You might want to try a more popular shade like Apple, or Chit Chat.
