Update on my skin + 5 Worst Products Tag + Some Lemmings

To explain for the lack of posts: I am still suffering from my allergic reaction! I finally got to see a real dermatologist (my first visit to the derm ever! I don’t know why I sound so excited) after having to put up with incompetent doctors at my University Health Center. I’m on 4 different kinds of prescriptions and they seem to be working at handling the situation. My face is a LOT better, the skin on my cheeks are now much smoother and they are only slightly ruddy as opposed to super red just a few days ago. In the meanwhile though, I haven’t been wearing any makeup except curling my lashes. As for my skincare regime suggested by the derm? Wash with Cetaphil Cleanser morning and night, then moisturize with 1/2 parts of Cetaphil lotion mixed with 1/2 parts of the treatment cream prescribed to me. I have never used Cetaphil before but have heard that it’s the most gentle cleanser out there, and it’s SO very true. I’m not sure if I like it, but it’s definitely gentle for my needs right now. It feels like slimy water on my face, and I don’t feel clean afterwards at all. I don’t know how I will finish this big 16oz bottle I bought since it was on sale for $7.99 at Walgreens compared to $8.99 for the smaller 10oz bottle. How crazy right?! The Cetaphil lotion is kind of greasy, I don’t like it. But what can I do, the doctor’s orders!

Anyway, I was tagged by Emilee, so I will share my 5 worst products:

1. Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 – LOADED with alcohol, stings burns and dries out my skin. I can’t believe it’s the #1 best seller.

2. Benefit Cosmetics – yes the entire line. lol. It’s the biggest scam ever, all of their products are extremely gimmicky and mediocre at best. Even the supposedly “cute”retro packaging is annoying.

3. Herbal Essences – I’m going to have to go with some people on this one. Their products made my hair dry and brittle, and not to mention they smell plastic-y and fake.

4. Victoria’s Secret’s body lotions – Instead of moisturizing your skin, they actually dry out your skin. Yes it’s that bad, it’s like putting scented water on my arms and legs. All of the scents are barf-inducing as well.

5. Fresh Pomegranate Conditioning Hair Rinse – This was actually stocked at a hotel I stayed in in San Francisco, and while I was SO excited to discover Fresh bath/body, shampoo and conditioners in my bathroom, I was very very disappointed in this. It smells good, but it didn’t do shit for my hair. How is this even a conditioner? It was like splashing slimy water (like Cetaphil) on my hair, and coated my hair with a gross layer of product that refused to come off for days even when I washed my hair afterwards.

There are actually so many more products that suck, but to list them out would take me all day :P

—————–

I haven’t been able to use or buy any makeup lately, so I’m in kind of a rut. As my skin is getting better I can’t wait to get back to putting some colors on my face and looking polished! I’m usually not a big MAC fan but…the new Beauty Powder Blushes look seriously tempting and good.

I’m going to have to check it out in person sometime.

I am still very much lemming after the LORAC Best Dressed Palette:

And I have still YET to see this in person! I should make a trip to Sephora soon.

I feel like going clothes shopping, the weather is getting warmer which means…it’s time to wear more dresses! I love wearing dresses, being very petite at 5′1, little dresses make me look bouncy and cute. In the fall and winter I wear them over warm tights with boots and a cute coat, it’s perfect! I practically live in dresses, can you believe that I wear dresses more often than I wear jeans?? Yeah crazy, I’m not a big fan of jeans. Mostly because it’s so hard to find a right fit, they’re always too long and I have to hem them myself. I’m pretty good at hemming jeans but it’s still time-consuming and I much rather not having to alter them.

I’m lemming some really cute dresses for Spring/Summer, too bad they are out of my budget :( Sigh one can window shop right?

Karta Empire V-Neck Dress $326

Prairie Underground Funnel Dress – $165

The collar is so cute!

La Rock Cannes T-Neck Halter Dress – $168

This one is hot! Great for going out as well.

Milly Tank Cocktail Dress – On sale for $249

ahhh love the gold details!!

See by Chloe Short Sleeve Embroidery Dress – $540

This blue silk dress is so girly and cute. I need to find an affordable version of this!

Darryl K Wedge Dress – $485

Isn’t the cut on this white dress so cool??

Yaya Aflalo Print Rein Tunic – $387

I have a thing for tunics…

Rebecca Taylor Cami Dress – On sale for $198

Such a sweet and innocent dress! But one problem… the chest area is TINY. Almost makes me wish I had smaller boobs so I can fit into it…*almost*

Now I just need to go and find more affordable versions of these!

glad to hear that your skin is doing better! Cetaphil’s definitely gentle, but I feel the same way as you do about the cleanser – that stuff just made my face feel dirtier. I use Purpose cleanser right now (another gentle skincare line) and it seems to get rid of most of the dirt/makeup at the end of the day.

ah dresses….i have quite a few, all cute and stuff, but i never find a good time to wear them =T i feel too dressy for work, and WAY to dressy on weekends. i live in jeans. i’d wear them to work every day if i could =)

Yay for your skin clearing up :D Maybe now I get to see your pretty face again<3

And those dresses are to die for! I wish I had the legs (and height) to wear them, my dancer legs are too fat! TT You’d think dancing would give me thin, long legs :/ Nope! *tears*

Go get the Lorac Palette as fast as you can! I checked two Sephoras last week, and they’re all gone :/

Good that your skin is clearing up, doctors always recommend Cetaphil so it must be really good…hmmm,.. igotta try it out some time hehehh, The dresses that i love are the black ones and the gold one, those are beautiful :)

I definitely agree with #1! I hate how the Clinique SA always try to tell it to me no matter what I’m buying. “Sure, I’ll get you the mascara…want the #2 toner, too?”

I actually kind of like Benefit. I don’t like a majority of their products, but I do like a select few. Dr. Feel Good is actually one of the better oil-controlling primers I’ve used; it’s definitely helped my foundation last longer.

That La Rock dress is HOT! Now I just have to find a reason to justify a $168 dress that I don’t really need, lol.

diana: I have heard pretty good things about the purpose cleaner as well,I should look into that! I just think wearing dresses is so much more comfortable than tight jeans but I do agree that a lot of times they feel too dressy.

Chiara: I can’t wait for my skin to get better so I can share some FOTDs! I have short little legs so I always have to get petite sizes so they don’t go past my knees and make me look like a little grandma lol.

Bliss: omg aren’t those 2 dresses so cute?! I totally want them!!

Emilee: yes the La Rok dress is totally hot I would love to go out for drinks in it! I go through so many dresses every year so its hard for me to jusity dropping 200$ on something I will only wear a few times. Sigh story of a broke college student

399: wow 5′4 is totally tall in my book LOL I would love to gain a few inches and be able to fit in more clothes. Glad I inspired some dress lemmings :)

The yellow dress is definitely cute! so expensive tho :O

glad your skin is getting sorted :) you’ll have your clear skin in no time.

i bought a huge bottle of clinique toner (tax-free airport)! i used it before and i thought it was ok.. but i think my skin has become more sensitive cos it broke me out -_- now i’m using Shu facial mist :D

I love the T-neck halter! So hot! I would love to be able to wear dresses more than jeans. I’m a denim girl at heart. :)
