Drugstore and Dresses Haul
*EDIT* Thank you to Tiffany for pointing this out, apparently the links on all of my photos from previous entries are BROKEN!? None of the pictures are showing up! I had to manually re-link all of them! Argh so frustrating. That’s like 200+ photos right there, I did a few but don’t feel like doing the rest, I guess I’m going to have to put them back up little by little. Sorry about that, I didn’t even notice! Grrr
Hey guys, long time no blog! I haven’t been very creative with my makeup lately and neither have I bought any new makeup, well except for a tiny drugstore haul. I had just discovered that there is a HUUGE Long’s Drugs not very far from me (how could I have not known all the time?!) and it’s going to be even closer to me once I move into my new apartment this summer, yes! It is the size of a regular supermarket, no wait, it’s even BIGGER. But of course all I cared about was the cosmetic isles, and they had literally every single drugstore brand under the sun. I was really excited to see both the NYX display and the new Sally Hansen Natural Beauty line inspired by Carmindy. The Sally Hansen one got tons of rave reviews on MUA so I really wanted to check it out.
On to my small haulage:

It’s been a while since I bought any drugstore makeup because I have mostly been unimpressed with the stuff I have been trying, but I am very happy with my haul this time. L to R: Freeman Grapefruit Sugar Body Scrub, Olay thermal pedicure scrub, Sally Hansen Natural Beauty All-over Brightener, NYX Lipgloss in Natural.
The Freeman body scrub is actually a rebuy because I just finished my last tube and needed to restock. This stuff is the best body scrub ever, cheap and effective, no need to shell out tons of money for expensive body scrubs. This one is only $3.99 for a 6oz tube, and lasts me about 2-3 months. I only use it once a week to exfoliate so it doesn’t deplete too fast, but at $3.99 I can afford to use it more often if I want to. When I’m not using this I just use some random body wash from the drugstore like Dove or something. The new squeeze tube is a major upgrade from the old packaging, and much more user-friendly.
The Olay pedicure scrub thing was purely an impulse buy since it was on sale, I haven’t tried it out yet, but I will update once I do.

Apparently lavender-based color correctors are all the rage now! The Muse talked about her secret weapon of using a lavender colored concealer to brighten her face so I wanted to give it a try as well. The texture of this is very creamy, but dries to a very powdery finish, so it’s not at all sticky, it feels almost like foam, it’s hard to explain. But this really does what it says: brightens up my skin and lightens my skintone a little, not a lot, just slightly so that there is a very obvious brightening effect. So far I am liking it, but don’t use it every day since it’s kind of a hassle to add on an extra step to my makeup routine, I’m lazy!

I LOVE this NYX lipgloss. I compared this shade with the shade called Beige and they were very very similar! Except this shade is slighly more rosy, but honestly I could hardly tell the two apart. The texture is smooth and not at all sticky, and very pigmented almost like liquid lipstick. Since my lips are naturally pigmented, this slightly tones it down and gives me a very natural nude look. I’m going to have to do a FOTD with this sometime.
Swatches:

Eww excuse my arm hair. It’s usually not this noticeable I swear, stupid flash. LOL.
Anyway, I went clothes shopping for the first time in a while yesterday, and picked up a couple of dresses. You know how obsessed I am with dresses, I hate wearing jeans and I hate the feel of jeans, especially tight jeans, but I admit they look way better than loose fitting jeans, but they’re so uncomfortable! So lately I have been boycotting jeans and wearing dresses any chance I can get. Half of my closet is filled with dresses, and I only own 2-3 pairs of jeans at a time because I hardly wear them.
Here is me modeling my dresses

This one is from Forever21, I have a love/hate relationship with that store. I hate how badly made their clothes are and how their stores are always filled to the BRIM with stuff that it takes forever to go through just one section, and I hate how once you buy something from there, you see everyone else wearing the exact same thing. However, I do love how affordable and trendy their clothes are, and their huge selection of dresses, and occasionally you come across a rare gem that is actually well-made and the cut is actually flattering. I have been looking for a safari-ish shirt dress and this one fits the bill perfectly! It came with this belt sash of the same color and material, but I tossed that out and put on my own belt for a nice contrast. The pleated skirt has a lot of volume and gives it a very 50’s feel.

This one is from H&M. The shirt and the dress are connected
Again, the same Hate/Love relationship with this store for the same reasons. As much as I love this dress, I feel that the length is a bit too long, shouldn’t it be hitting my legs mid-thigh instead of right above the knees? It makes me feel kind of stumpy, considering the volume of the bubble skirt. That’s what I get for being so short! I do love the pockets though. What do you guys think?
My last dress is a purple jersey dress from Zara. I love that store so much, but the clothes fit me so weirdly! I think they are made for 5′10″ goddesses or something, because everything is always SO LONG on me: the sleeves, the hems, the pant legs, everything! I feel like a little girl playing dressup in Mommy’s clothes when I try on their stuff. It really upsets me because I love their clothes and wish they would fit properly on me
Again, one of the many woes of being short. I didn’t bother modeling the Zara dress because it’s a very simple jersey dress, nothing special and particularly trendy, just a good staple to have for the summer when I want to be casual, I bought it because it was the only thing I tried on that actually fit
That’s because I think it’s meant to be a shirt LOL I’m serious, I picked it up and said oh cute dress and then realized that it’s actually a shirt but since I’m so damn short it becomes a dress on me.
A few weeks ago I showed my boyfriend this cute ring I saw on Etsy but wasn’t sure how it would look on me so I didn’t buy it. And guess what?? Last week I received a package and in it was this ring I wanted!! He secretly ordered it for me
I was very shocked since he never does anything of that sort, ever. So it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

It’s basically a piece of wood wrapped in sterling silver wire. I thought it looked really unique and full of character, but wasn’t sure if I would look stupid with a huge piece of wood on my finger, but I tried it on and I really like it. Sure it’s a big thing and my friend commented that it looked like I’m wearing a piece of chocolate, but the uniqueness factor definitely had me sold. Plus it fits comfortably and people commented on how “cool” it looks.

Side view to show the wire wrapping. The only thing is I can’t get it wet, so gotta remove it before washing my hands.
I use to go to Longs Drugs every week almost. LOL. Great haul! I have NYX’s Lipgloss in “Natural” too and it definitely is one of my fave shades from them.
And geezus do I love your pumps in that first picture!
Nice haul! that’s really cool you’re gonna got a NYX aisle! I want! haha..
Both dresses look great on you, my personal fav is first one!
Ahh i totally agree with you on zara, they are long in general.. perhaps made for tall europeans if you ask me ! LOL. They do sell lovely clothes though.
The ring does look unusual but in a artistic kind of way!
Oooo you are so lucky to have a nice place to shop for makeup and essentials heheh, nice mini haul, tell us how the olay thermal pedicure treatment, does it work, that seems interesting, You look very pretty in both dresses and i especially like you in the H&M dress
I LOVE your style~~~~ esp that first dress! You should definitely participate in my OL challenge (esp cuz you don’t really have to be creative with the makeup) ! =) That ring is really cool too~ Thanks for visiting my blog! I’ll be back to check on yours!
awww thats nice of your bf to get the ring
It does look pretty cool!
i agree, tight jeans are so uncomfortable! but i usually end up wearing jeans because i take public transport and wearing skirts is less convenient.
i love your red shoes in the first pic
you have such nice stuff – my closet is so sad in comparison. i should probably spend more on clothing than makeup lol.
WHOAAAAAA that first outfit looks SO good on you!!!! and i’m in love with the black mary jane pumps in your second picture–what brand & name is it? I’m totally lemming for a comfortable black mary jane pump likes urs.
and you’re so lucky to have the longs store near you with all that NYX goodies :3 I actually found some NYX lipgloss in Krogers but they had such a small selection and were $5 each
Christiana: lol I used to hit up the drugstore a few times a week last year too! I was soo addicted, which explains why I ended up with a ton of stuff that I bought from BOGOF sales and ended up giving all of them away!
Nicola: Yes Zara clothes are definitely made for tall Europeans, now if only a stylish Asian clothing chain would come out…
Bliss: I haven’t tired the thermal pedicure treatment yet, but I will definitely update when I do! It has gotten pretty good reviews.
fuzkittie: aww thank you
I really want to enter your OL challenge! This is one challenge where I am actually tempted into entering, but I will be so busy this week and the next, I will try to squeeze in some time to do it, gotta think of fun outfits for it! I’m excited, do you have a deadline by the way?
blu3: Yea I realized that I was spending too much money on makeup and not enough on other things so I had to do a little switch, although in the end…I’m still spending money and that’s not good either way!
IchigoBunnie: Thanks sweetie, my mary jane pumps are from Nine West, I got them on sale! I don’t think I have ever bought a pair of shoes for full retail price. But be warned, these shoes are not that comfortable…they are 4 inch heels and HURT, so I rarely wear them.
Cute dresses! I especially love the shoes in the first one.
I have the same feelings towards F21. I love how unique and trendy some of their clothes are, but the quality sucks. They have nice summer/jersey dresses, though. I gave up on H&M right after they opened here because their tops never fit.
